Not using the lay box

Hi all

I have been trying to breed my leos for a little while now, and although they are mating and producing eggs, the females for some odd reason will not use the lay box. They tend to hang out in there rather than lay there.

Any ideas as to what I can do to entice them to use it properly? It is a medium sized ice-cream tub with peat in the bottom and is over on the warm side of the vivarium.
