Hello all

My gecko is acting strange tonight and I'm a little worried. He's walking around staring up at the top of the tank, and pacing back and forth along the glass looking into the room and sometimes trying to climb up the side. He seems anxious. I reach in there and he climbs readily into my hand. It surprises me somewhat. He's become pretty tame in the last couple weeks, he comes out whenever I put food in there, but he's never climbed into my hand so readily. I checked the temp on his warm side and it was a little high, about 95, so I turned the UTH down with the lamp dimmer. Could something be wrong and any ideas what? :main_huh:

95 is a good temp, no need to turn it down IMO. i think you are just noticing him start to relax with his new home. sometimes takes them a couple of weeks to get acclimated. leos at night are hunters and he's probably just exploring. when i walk into my reptile room, im usually greeted with a bunch of smiling faces pawing at the fronts of the tubs, lol

Do not worry at all. My Leo does the same thing. Last night she climbed everything--things that I did not even know she could climb up on. (I got pics;)). She also looks up a lot, too, and when I put my hand even close to the tank she reaches for it. I think she just likes to be out at night with me enjoying some freedom.

Cool, thanks for all the comments guys, I feel a lot better. I think he could see me and my husband in the room and wanted some attention or something. After I posted, I went and talked to him a little and let him crawl into my hand and up my arm a couple times. Then I gave him a waxworm and he settled down.

After reading your posts I've realized something. When I was researching leos, many of the sources I came across said they do not like to be held, that it causes them a lot of stress. Clearly, this is not always true.
