ok so the other day Ember finally laid her first clutch of eggs for the season (yay!) however i was at work so unfortunatly it was a gonner when i got to it..however this is not the problem..
as i said previously, she laid 1 egg which ok its her 3rd ever clutch it was expected and it was normal and healthy looking (other than being dented and shrivelled but you know what i mean). I wanted to be there for the next clutch and was gutted about losing the egg but these things happen.
what i didnt expect was to go back in my room the next day to find another egg!! yes an egg a day late...but i use the ter "egg" loosly because it was very sticky and very oddly shaped the only way i can describe it is being "water baloon like" :main_huh: now heres the question..what the heck happened with this second egg and why did she lay it a day after the other?

all food is dusted and calcium dish is readily available in the viv so i presumed it was not a calcium deficiency? or am i wrong?

please let me know :) thank you in advance!:main_thumbsup:

if your egg laying container is at the proper humidity an egg should be able to last for at least a day b4 being retrieved

It is what is commonly refered to as a slug. It is an infertile egg and is common for first time breeders.

Will all the clutches for a first timer breeder being slugs? My tremper albino which is 2 years old laid 2 clutches and all 4 egg were slugs. Also I have another first year breeder but all her clutches are doing well. I am still waiting to see some babies in the incubator but nothing yet. They have being incubating at 83º for 40 days and I increased the temperature to 90º 8 days ago so now it have been 48 days and the only difference is that the eggs are looking a little bit larger and soft also the embryos are looking bigger.

the containers are fine set up brill, but she decided that it would be much easier to lay the egg up high on a log :main_rolleyes: and that day was really warm so she basically cooked the egg up there! never mind! new viv soon which means better setup!:main_thumbsup:
