First off, let me say, I love old people for the most part. I like to help my Dad deliver meals on wheels as often as I can, just to talk to some of the older people. The really grouchy ones, however, I cannot stand.

So a few days ago, our neighbor that lives across the street from us got upset when our cat, Oscar, was rusteling through his bushes. He came over some time early in the morning, and told my Dad that if he ever saw "that f****** cat" in his yard again, he would shoot it. I though "ok, the guy doesn't like cats, some people don't, whatever. Then today, My dad was talking to this guy about how he (my dad) was going to paint our house. This guy said something to the effect of, why don't you cut that tail off that stupid dog of yours, and paint your house with that...WHAT?!?! Bu...dea...guhhh....AHHHHHH!!!! If that guy ever comes near any of my pets, I'm going to kick him right in the chest!

Wow! What a prick! (can I say "prick" on this forum?)
Ask him when he'll be painting his house. Tell him it wreaks of "old" and Ben Gay.
Mean spirited people really tick me off...:main_angry:

Wow.. That guy is lame.

I can think of better places to kick him though.

Right to the back of the head or his neck are good places as well. I live in a Condo where almost half of our neighbors are grouchy old people. When my kids were babies, they would innocently look at them and smile. These old people would never smile back, they would just stare.:main_angry: I vow never to be like that.

Why do people have to be so grouchy sometimes?

Really I think it is because they are lonely. I do tons of volunteer work and around Christmas I spend numerous hours in nursing homes and the people are so unappreciative. I sometimes just want to ask them if they understand that i am not getting paid to do this or if they realize I would rather be doing other things. Sometimes my mom said, she is a hospice nurse, that some neurological problems can actually make old people meaner, I guess they just realize what comes outta their mouth. Matt and Mallorie, good luck with the Scrooge across the street! HaHa

Well the Scrooge across the street has a wife he lives with, so I can't really fiture out the lonliness thing, but I know understand what your saying. However, I also deliver Meals on Wheals with my dad sometimes and some of the lonliest people we deliver to are some of the happiest. I don't know, I guess it just depends on circumstances.

The ones that bother me the most are the ones who feel they should get special treatment just cause they're old...retail gets all of them I swear!

Yesterday an older lady came in, brought a big flashlight (Craftsman, the lifetime only applies to hand tools) that she got as a gift last year...still in the box, never used...she said she plugged it in and it wasn't charging.. I asked her if she had a receipt and she said "No, I got it as a gift last year" I told her that since it had been so long and she didn't have a receipt that I couldn't exchange it and that we didn't even carry that model anymore...oooooh did she get ticked...so she asked the guy I was working with (he'd already somewhat talked to her) and when he told her the same thing I did, she went off!!! started screaming, but only at me! That about the 6th or 7th incident I've had this month with an elderly person

LOL retail and old people, a match made in hell! I used to work at Winn-Dixie as a bagger, but I stocked a few times. One day I was stocking cat food and this older lady walked up to me and asked me why this certain kind of cat food was 7 cents more at Winn Dixie than it is at Publix. My reply was something to the effect of ma'am, I have no idea, I only stock. She lost her friggin mind, and complained to my manager. So my manager told her off because he knew I would never call her what she said I did.

I used to be a night crew chief at shop rite(read manager of the whole store) and did whatever isle was empty from that guy having a day off. I have seen the angriest old people known to man at 6:05 am, not to mention the freaks do indeed come out at night :) I used to stock and block the petfood and at 6:05 am, the same evil lady would come in and destrong all 48 rows of catfood to get the stock from the back. Lke I was going to rotate 1000 cans with a shelf life of 2 years every night:main_rolleyes:

I got moved to register by the store manager because he didn't like my reply when he called me a few choice words :main_evilgrin: The register can make a nun tell a customer off :main_yes: I lasted a full 7 months before I got a new job just to annoy the management while I made manager rate to ring up mean people.

I would go homeless and eat dirt before ever doing retail again.

I vow to be the most crotchety old person ever, and own a shotgun. I will be totally nice to your animals, but if your kid steps on my lawn, his bum is grass.
