But I finally received a response to the letter I send my congressman regarding HR-669 and I thought I would share.
It's good to know that my email made it to someones eyes, but come on... First off, it doesn't say if he is for or against the bill and the letter looks copied and pasted.
Just goes to prove, all they care about is getting re-elected and not the people the represent.
Like I said, I just thought I would share this with everyone. If you got a reply back from your congress(wo)man, please feel free to share it too.
Dear Mr. Pierce:
Thank you for contacting me to express your opinion regarding H.R. 669, the Non-native Wildlife Invasion Prevention Act. I appreciate you taking the time to share your thoughts with me on this matter.
This legislation was introduced by Madeleine Bordallo (D-Guam) on January 26, 2009. If passed by Congress and signed into law, this act would prevent the introduction of non-native wildlife species deemed to pose an excessive risk to the economy, environment, human health, or other wildlife to areas where they are not originally native.
Over the past few months, my office has received numerous phone calls, letters, and faxes from constituents regarding this legislation. Some believe the passage of the Non-native Wildlife Invasion Prevention Act would needlessly end many of the businesses involved in the pet trade and prevent different types of animals such as pet fish, birds, reptiles, amphibians, small mammals, or invertebrates from becoming pets to many of our nation's citizens. Others believe invasive species have been one of the leading threats to biodiversity, imposing enormous costs to agriculture, forestry, fisheries and human health.
Currently, H.R. 669 has been referred to the House Committee on Natural Resources. The Committee will hold hearings to ensure all sides of the debate are heard on this important issue before the bill is voted on. Unfortunately I do not serve on this Committee, but rest assured that I will keep your views and thoughts in mind should this legislation come to the House floor for consideration.
Again, I want to thank you for taking the time to contact me. Please feel free to contact me if I can be of any further assistance on this matter or if you would like additional information on this topic or other issues facing Congress, please visit my Website at http://crenshaw.house.gov.
Sincerely,
Ander Crenshaw
