Hi Folks,

Recently i've moved some of my leos to a bigger tub, but the material used for the tubs are opaque plastics which does not allow natural lights to go through during daytime.Would it cause any health issue in the long run, can i keep them in a dark enviroment since they're nocturnal animals. BTW, they're all albino. Thanks.

no they shouldnt have any issues. Just make sure your dusting their food with Calcium D3 at least every other feeding. A lot of breeders keep theirs in racks and they dont get natural light.

I think you'll find your geckos will be happy in the tubs they can't see out of clearly. They will still see the brightness of a day cycle, but not be so disturbed by goings on in the surrounding area. A tub is sort of like a big hide, since they can't see so many other things, even other geckos eating or mating (or males wanting to mate). I don't know about other folks, but my geckos have zero shed issues in tubs, even in the winter when having heat on dries up the house air more.

Hi Michael, i'm not using heat for my geckos as i'm from Asia, i'm sure it can work out something to heat up with good insulation.

Plastic storage drawers setups are not secure for geckos. They are sneaky and can escape. This is why folks build racks to hold either ventilated tubs tight without a lid or tubs with lids that snap tight. Reptiles being cold blooded, require a way to both heat their bodies and cool down, with a temperature gradient. In the wild they can seek these places on their own. In captivity it has to be provided for them within their enclosure. Reptiles that are not kept properly have a tendency for various health issues to pop up frequently, and some on a regular basis. Also, that type of white plastic will not allow any daylight cycle, which your geckos need. Sorry, I missed that point in the original post. Translucent plastic works fine.

Hi Laney, Thank you for your info that they actually need daylight cycle, precisely that was what i wanted to know in my first post and i'll find a way to solve it. Thank you for your concern regarding the heat issue, room temperature here range from 25 to 33. So far my geckos are adapting well.
