I have been handling my Lizzy extra lately to help her shed and fix her eye problem...sometimes when I am holding her she will open her mouth all the way and keep it open for awhile. I think this is soo cute :laugh4: but it has to be warning me that she has had enough right???

When my female had this symptom, it was because she was prematurely bred, and the ovaries were swelling up (infected) pushing up against her lungs, and her stomach, causing rapid breathing and nausea, fatty liver and mouth rot. Lesson learned: don't put underage females with adult males. The girl ended up dead on the way to the vet clinic, :)() though it was because of over heating due to overcompensation for the 40 below weather. If she hadn't died of overheating, she was going to die of either suffocation, starvation, or the infection, said the vet.

I think open mouth can mean the gecko is in pain. The one Gecko I had before it died, the night before he died he opened his mouth real big and was trying to move. Well the next day my little Gecko, the orange one I had died. I still have Ninja though.
