Hey guys,

Currently I have 5 Hatchlings from my Normal x Normal pairing. Both parents are 10 1/2 years old. The first hatchling I got from them is now 46 days old. I've noticed some orange coming into her tail. Neither one of the parents have any carroting at all. As far as I know, the parents are not het for anything.

My question is: Is there any reason for this?

Also with their hatchlings, 3 of the 5 have been somewhat dark, which was expected. The first one with the carroting is a high yellow, and the other hatchling seems to be really light. This is my first season breeding and I wanted to know if they light hatchling is something to expect from the Normal x Normal pairing.

I forgot the picture of the light baby (2nd Hatchling from Pairing)... here it is....

The photos above are in this order from top left, clock wise...

1) Hatchling with Carroting
2) Close up of Carroting
3) 4th Hatchling from the pairing
4) 3rd Hatchling from the pairing (Sibling to picture posted in this reply)

Well, that is actually where Tangerines came from. By selectively breeding high-yellows which had small amounts of orange, there were able to eventually make geckos with more orange on them.

Thanks for the info Dan. I wasn't sure since none of the parents had any orange in them.

Michael, Thanks for the comment :)

Andrew, the first time I got into Leopards was maybe 12-13 years ago, at that point there were pretty much only High Yellows. So somewhere around 8-10+ years, I guess!:main_yes:

I thought on Fauna i saw a posy by Albey, he had a w/c high yellow male, and then he had the great(X9) grandaughter. So it took him 9 to get a SHTCTB, im not totally sure on all of that tho.

My geckos sometimes have orange faintly on their tails right after shedding (especially my albino)- it is a natural and spontaneous mutation. Very cool you lucked out like that.

I haven't been into gecko breeds since 10-15 years ago, too- I was so amazed and confused seeing all the crazy mutations now. Back then the high yellows were new and exciting. :p
