I'm really looking forward to what my "orange stripe" project will produce this year. I'm hoping to consistently produce nice orange/tangerine stripes and increase the intensity of the overall body coloration, as well as carrottail.

Pictured is one of my favorite breeder females (positioned at the top of both photos) with her daughters from last year. As I'm sure some of you know, who also work with red stripes/jungles etc, you NEVER know what will hatch out! I think that always keeps it interesting.

IDK visually those are Red Stripes, to me. So I think maybe they are saying "orange stripes" because they are not actually red? :main_cool3:

Sweet geckos either way!

I think most, if not all, red stripes have hypo lines somewhere in their heritage. I believe HQ did the cross early on. I could be wrong though.

Awesome geckos though! We should do some trading sometime!

Red Stripes do not have carrottails? Some of the ones I`ve seen have as much if not more CT, than some carrottails themselves. Slightly less, because they have striped tails. You know what I mean tho`. :main_thumbsup:

Anyway, Jon, I`m curious too, to see if these are crosses at all, or pure RS? I`de guess Red Stripe X Stripe myself, but I am probably wrong.:main_rolleyes:

Thanks for the comments everyone.

Dan is correct in some aspect, these "could be" classified as red stripes (but I'm not trying to market or hype up my animals). I try my best to be 100% accurate with my "labeling" of designer animals, meaning that in my opinion, they don't have red coloration but intense orange, thus I just call them orange stripes. Also, I consider any animals labeled "red stripes" to be related to animals produced or purchased directly from the originator breeder who coined that nickname- HQ reptiles in Canada.

As far as I know, the breeder animals I have are NOT from the HQreptile "red stripe" line, but rather from patternless striped and orange striped animals (basically non albino aptors). I don't have any visible albinos in my colony, but I believe most of the animals were offspring originally from tremper line aptor/raptor projects. Some of the animals were also het eclipse, which would example why I produced a handful of interesting eclipses last season.

As far as carrottails goes, every egg hatches out an different and unique gecko. Some are 25%, others are close to 100%. It really doesn't matter how much carrottail the parents have, I've had 25% carrottail breeders produce 75% ct offspring and vice versa.

Pictured is one of my favorite '08 offspring from that project- what I would call a "carrottailed eclipse". Hope that information helps!

Haha Zach!

I've been trying to drop by more often, but due to my busy schedule I can view/post a few times in a month, then go weeks without visiting the forums. Honestly, even when I do have free time, I prefer to invest that into cleaning/feeding my animals, instead of browsing the forums (nothing against anyone, just my personal preference!). Remember that it's about the animals!
