Ovulating female-not accepting male?

Ok- my 2nd female is now ovulating, but not accepting the male. When I put them together she gets defensive and tries to attack him. I had thought that when the female is ovulating they would be cooperative? I have breed this male to another female who was also ovulating and she was very cooperative. Any suggestions?

sometimes a female wont actually become receptive until the ovules are a half inch or more across. try again in a few weeks, or she could just be an uncooperative girl, and hopefully she will grow out of it :)

I have a few females that are doing the same thing and so I was reading about this the other night. Ron Tremper's book says they tend not to be receptive until the ovulates are at least 1/2 inch in diameter. She may just not be ready yet. I just keep introducing my females to the male once every week or so and seeing if they are in a better mood. So far they're defensive and jumpy every time but I assume eventually they'll calm down like a few of my others have.

Update: Put my male with Luna again last night and success! After a bit of bumbling around on the part of the male they mated. This is the male 1st year and he seems to still be a little unsure of himself, but he eventually figures it out :)

thats great! what morph pairing is this? oh, and my first year male this year seems to have finally gotten the hang of it, but when he first started, he would latch onto their tails (which freaks me out!!) and try mounting their faces.... thank goodness i have coopeerative, experienced girls that put up with it calmly :)

By the way the pic of the female is an old pic- she is much bigger than this now- 60g, just the best one I had to show colors!

I had a female that after the first time I paired them up, absolutely refused every other attempt of my MS Eclipse male to mate, usually violently. I had been introducing him to her tub in order to avoid any territory issues on his part. Well, the last introduction I did, I put her in his tub and they were done in a couple minutes, no fuss or trouble. We'll see how successful it was when she drops her latest clutch sometime today or tomorrow.

Yes I tried several locations as well. They finally mated back in her tank, it took about an hour of moving them around, and them dancing around each other. I think she thought she was on a date and wanted to get her moneys worth, lol.
