Ovulation.

I looked for this question in Search, I promise! So I'm sorry if I missed it.

I'm sort of a typical mommy with my leo, searching for every milestone in her life to celebrate... Seriously, there's a party for every gram gained. Little, personal party. Point is, I was wondering at about what age females start the ovulation cycle? When can I expect her to actually ovulate for the first time?

Also, am I correct in thinking that females lay unfertilized eggs? What happens with that, you just wake up and there are eggs laying in the terrarium one day? Or is there a special way to make laying, even unfertilized eggs, more comfortable? I don't think she's old enough yet by a long shot, but I'd like to be ready when she is.

All my geckos have started ovulation after they are 40+ grams. Have yet to see one smaller start. As far as the unfertilized egg thing, she will probably not utilize the lay box if they are not fertile. I have had a few times where the female had access to a lay box but still didn't use it and sure enough the eggs were no good, but most of the girls that ovulate without a male usually reabsorb the eggs in my experience.

Okay, cool. So she's got a way to go, she's way under 40g yet. Wasn't sure what they did with the unfertilized eggs, didn't want her to end up eggbound or anything.
