Wife brought him home last night, he's in quarantine right now. The crickets are gut loading as we speak. He didn't want any worms last night, seemed more interested in getting used to where to hide. I'll be feeding him nightly and weighing him every morning to make sure he's gaining weight.
He ate four small crickets last night and weighs 14 grams this morning, up from 13 yesterday morning. Maybe he'll pass some of that as the digestion process takes effect, but the positive thing to note here is that he's eating, and his weight has increased.
edit: I know he shouldn't be handled this soon into moving him in here, but he is very skinny and I need to make sure he doesn't lose any weight, so he'll just have to get stressed out for a minute every morning while I put him on the scale.
Thanks, I'm sure his habitat at the pet store was just over crowded and once he settles into his new habitat he'll be eating as much as the other two. I hope he keeps that white and gets some more spots! The female juvenile I've been raising has just shed and it looks like she got all kinds of new spots. She has an orange tint in her arms and her tail is starting to get some orange too.
I'm a fan of the normal patterns.
I really love his this ones colors though. He's 92 grams, 10.5 inches.
I'm sure he will gain weight in no time. I have a leo that was 15g when I first got him and we've had him maybe a month, if that, and is already up to 25g
Cute little guy! He does look a bit skinny. I would make really certain that you're washing your hands and utensils well in between feeding/handling geckos just to play oit safe with pet store purchases. That female juvie looks quite skinny and a bit dark too. She could use a good soak to get the shed off her arm and toes or she may lose her claws. Make sure they have a 90 degree warm spot for their belly, a good vitamin supplement and plenty of food and they should bounce back in no time Good luck with them!
What you see on her arm is permanent damage from a retained shed. She is a rescue from the local pet store and would have lost the arm entirely if we hadn't taken her to the vet, he had to cut most of the skin off. The toes are just ash gray and sometimes it appears that they have a shed stuck to them but I'll soak her anyway because she does sometimes keep shed on the very tips of her toes. She was thin when we got her a few months ago and has put on weight, she's around 5 inches and 35 grams. But I'll definitely keep an eye on her. Thanks for the advice.
