I have been working with these guys for a couple years now and had this guy hatch out and he just seems to keep getting lighter and losing his dark outlines. I currently have normals, striped, and Anerythristic geckos. Any ideas?
Very nice Ocelot gecko! Looks like Anerythristic to me /probably with also some Hypomelanistic trend/ - what is the differece with the other individuals from that morph that you have?
I have one like that. I have been trying to find out more on the morphs but it doesn't seem many people work with them and there isn't much info out there. It is definitely a variation of the Anery morph. Since I have quite a few Anery and they don't look like that one, I am going on a limb and calling my a Hypo Anery until proven different.
Here is the pic of mine. I know I was kind of leery about characterizing morphs but since there isn't any info on morphs and everyone I have asked haven't been able to provide any definite info I feel pretty comfortable naming variations. I figure if someone has an objection and can provide a valid data and argument then I am willing correct the name.
Is that a male or female? How many pictus do you have? Have you had any issues with getting the eggs out of the tank and into the incubator due to how fragile they are.
This one is male. I currently have 38. I have had trouble transferring them, but it seems that if I increase their calcium intake it helps a little. They are still very fragile and I mainly end up cracking mine when I am digging for them in their lay containers....
I thought it might be a male. It appears that this variation is mainly males. I think I saw someone with a female but I am not positive if it really was a female or not though. That is the only one that I have even heard of. Wow 38, that is a good collection, I think that may be the biggest one that I have heard of yet. I just started breeding them this year but have had a couple for almost 2 years. Right now I have 6 breeders working with Normals, Anery, and Xanthic morphs. I am going to start working on proving out some morphs next year too. I have been having issues cracking them but started using a spoon to pull them out of the tubs and into the incubator containers which seems to work well. I also put in a dish of calcium to help with the strength. Where do you post your hatchlings for sale? I am interested and getting my hands on a couple reds.
Yeah I have been working with them about 2 yrs I haven't really sold any to the public mainly just friends. after I realized I had some Anery genetics in my mix I start holding back almost everything until I am 100% sure of what I have. I love to Xanthic! I have started grinding up chicken lay pellets and add it to my roach and cricket foods. That seems to help with shell strength for me.
Well maybe once I start seeing some Xanthics hatch we will have to talk about a trade or something. If you notice any trends or proving of morphs let me know, I am curious on what proves out and what doesn't.

A good approach is to digg by a brush (as archeologist :main_yes: ) and transfer the eggs from the laying container to the incubator by a small plastic spoon. At least, this works well with my Ocelot gecko eggs :main_thumbsup:
