paint help!!

ok people im getting a leopard gecko very soon! ( like in a week or two) i am building a cage for him. its 34"x 13"x 11". i want to either paint it or clear it or something to protect the wood. what is safe to use?? or should i just leave the wood bear??

i used valspar spray paint and just gave it ample time to dry for each coat was like a day or two and i wiped it down a few times for my beardie cages. make sure if you do it this way that the paint smell is gone or that could cause problems.

what do you mean by wide it down? lol sorry about the stupied question just want to make sure i dont do something stupied! lolol

I also used a water based spray paint for my leos rock shelf, coated with modge podge glue mixed with water. I've heard of people using the minwax polycrylic to coat them also.

i got a rag or towel wet and wiped the dry paint down. some times the paint leaves a dust behind so you want to make sure you get that up. i went 3 coats or paint on my beardie cages if you are wondering how many to do.. that worked out pretty good for me.
