Hello everyone,

Breeding a SHTCB het Tremper with a Jungle Tremper, the possible offspring will be Tremper Albinos Hypos with varying degrees of jungle, and Hypos het Tremper with varying degrees of jungle.

Do you agree? Please correct me if I'm wrong.

That's correct. I mean, with hypo jungles, you might not get awesome patterns as adults but still. And each offspring that isn't albino is 100% het albino. So really you'll get jungle albinos, sunglows, Trempers, hypos het albino, and jungle het albino

I'm sorry but how will I get Sunglows with such pairing? I didn't get that one.

The hypo gene is dominate. That is how sunglows are possible since they are shtctb Tremper albinos.

So it is possible for the offspring to be perfectly hypomelanistic to the point of having no dots at all like one of the parents even if the other parent is not hypo at all being jungle?

Correct. Its like how Enigmas and W&Y will effect the offspring even when paired to a completely different morph

How about the other way around? I mean, can the offspring also have almost no hypo in them and showing mostly the jungle trait design from one of the parents although the other is a SHTCTB?

Both hypo and jungle are polygenic or Line bred traits.

I have read some articles where there seems to be two different opinions concerning the genetic behaviour of hypo genes. Some do seem to believe it is actually a dominant gene and not exactly a standard line bred trait. For example in the leopard gecko genetics calculator you can check online and on mobile they even list the Hypo by the side of the Enigma and the W&Y under the Dominant category. Is that wrong?

From my experience its polygenic. In RT's book it list it as polygenic.

An example of it being polygenic from my experience , I bred a SHTCTB to a normal and didn't produce any super hypos. If it was dominant it would have produced super hypos.

An example of breeding a dominant to a normal is like breeding an enigma or a tug snow to a normal, 50% of the offspring would show the dominant trait. So by breeding the SHTCTB to the normal and not producing any true Super hypos it would prove that its not dominant. I have personally bred that and witnessed the outcomes. Its polygenic.

White and Yellow is a suspected dominant and requires more test breeding to prove this true. I have spoken with several breeders who claim that it doesn't always pass on to 50% of offspring, and that it also passes on at varying degrees to the babies. Some showing a major influence from the white and yellow...some showing not or very little.

I personally have not bred white and yellow yet. I will start next season hopefully when I acquire my pure white and yellow male.
