Papertowel help

Just finished putting together our first rack system. Using paper towels for the substrate but having a problem with the crickets going underneath the towel and the Leos not able to get to them. In the process of switching to Blaberus discoidales (roaches), but we are worried we will face the same issue with the roaches getting under the towels. Any suggestions on this? We thought about removing the towels all together, but don't want them rolling around in their own pee.

I simply moist down the paper towel when puttin them in, it actually holds them down so nothing can get under them.

In my experience if the food is in there, the gecko will find it. I throw in crickets or roaches, and by the next day they are gone, even though I saw them crawl under the paper towel. They come out at one point or another, and the gecko will find them :)

I just pushed down all the corners and along the ledge. But as the poster above said the crickets will come back out eventually and that's when the Gecko will get them :)
