perlite moisture

I set up my incubator in hope of of coming eggs a couple of days ago.

The perlite doesn't "feel" moist to me. I tried to follow the .8:1 water to perlite ratio. Should it feel moist or just hold enough water to keep the humidity high?

If you measured it out correctly, it should still feel fairly dry. You have to trust the ratio, it does work.

I thought exactly the same as you, was tempted to add more - but then I thought these guys must know what they are doing, they are all very successful at hatching - so I gave it a shot and my eggs are coming along beautifully!
