Picky Eater! Getting frustrated!

Hey everyone. So I am having a little problem with my male leo. He is just such a picky eater! I have been trying to switch up his diet to get away from crickest, because they just smell so terrible and I hate their noises too. This wouldn't be as much of a problem either if my gecko ate out of a nice food bowl, but of course he either doesn't know how or he's too lazy. He doesn't like to go hunting for food, he likes it to be right in front of them. Usually this means me dropping them in front of him.

First I tried superworms. He absolutely loved them, but it seems he got bored of them and stopped eating them. Then I tried phoenix worms. He ate them like crazy, but of course he stopped eating them, too. Now I have dubia roaches. He ate a few at first (large ones) and now he isn't really eating those either. There are still a few crawling around his cage, and he just ignores them, but looks at me like he's starving. Will he eat them eventually if he gets hungry enough? I feel bad, I don't know if I should go buy some crickets and/or mealworms or what. I haven't tried mealworms in a long time, hopefully he will eat those. I did feed him waxworms for a day or two while I was waiting for my shipment of roaches coming in. Obviously he loved those and will never stop eating them. So what do you all think? Continue feeding him the roaches in the hope that he will eat them eventually, or give in and give him crickets? Basically, what would you all do in this situation?

Also, any tips on how to get him to eat out of a bowl like a good little gecko? Sometimes he seems to notice them, it's just like he's not interested. I haven't tried in awhile, though. Maybe if I put some crickets in there...I dunno. It would just be so much easier than having the stupid bugs running around crazy in his cage. He is too timid to eat outside of his cage in a seperate container, so that won't work. He's on slate tile so there's no risk of impaction, but still, I'm sure that he gets annoyed by them. At least the roaches don't bite. So anyways...any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
