Picky Eater

Since i've gotten my leo, he's only eaten two, maybe three waxworms. It seems like he really doesnt like them. he mostly only eats crickets and will only eat mealworms if i hand feed them to him, or if thats what i feed him before the crickets. I thought leos were supposed to love waxworms?

is anyone else's leo a picky eater like mine?

Waxworms should not be used as a staple. Have you tried Dubia roaches.

i know waxworms shouldnt be used as a staple...i have jsut tried giving them to him as treats, be he doesnt want to eat them. i havent tried roaches...they kinda scare me. i'll stick with crickets b/c he loves those.

The waxworms might be too big for him. If he's eating fine on crickets, stick to those. You should probably only offer him one small waxworm per week at the most until he gets bigger.

i had been offering him only the smallest ones in the container. oh well, as long as he doesnt stop eating crickets he'll be okay.

i say crickets is better when my leos were juvi's. after they reached 35 gram, i offered meal worms, and they love it. wax worm are only for treats. if they dont like a certain feeder, change it up and change it back after couple of weeks. thats what i do since my leos change their taste every couple of month *sigh

so he ate a waxworm last night...along with ten crickets...he's a little piggy. i wonder if he just eats them when he's super hunger or something?
