my male only seems to eat crickets. we feed the female superworms with the occasional cricket, but when we try to give the male a superworm he shows absolutely no interest at all.
Do you think he would give to a different type of worm, and if so, which kind? I really really hate keeping crickets. I live in a small apartment, it doesnt take long for the small living room to smell of cricket and sound like the amazon. also, they freak me out. I dont think our landlord would be okay with dubias either so Im hoping theres a way to get a good staple thats a worm.
any help would be appreciated, thanks!

You can try feeding only super worms and stop feeding crickets completely. As long as he isn't losing weight in his tail, there shouldn't be a problem with him not eating a few days as long as you keep offering super worms. Eventually he should get hungry enough to eat the super worms. Just leave the super worms in an escape proof dish over night in his tank and check in the morning to see if any are missing in the bowl.
You can also try meal worms and silkworms. Silkworms, however, are harder to raise because they eat a specific food and need clean containers.

Try silkworms. Blatta lateralis roaches move in a swift manner more like crickets and they do not dig or burrow. So that might also stimulate him also try freshly molted tenebrionid beetles aka superworm and mealworm beetles.
