Hey guys this is my first post on the forums and i am posting this because today i noticed this pink thing coming out of the right side of my leopard geckos butt and i am unsure what it is. She is eating fine she is around 8 months old, she is also housed with her sister and they get along fine, i have her on repticarpet, and the temperatures are also fine, recently i am not so sure she is a female because of the "pink thing" on the right side of her but, the person i got her from said she was tempsexed female. anyways the pink thing looks a little bit like small poo but it is all pink it is hanging out of the right side of her butt, it seems like it may be bothering her, and i am not sure what to do as i don't want to hurt her, so do any of you know what this is? (i can provide a picture of her little problem if needed)

-Thanks

Its probably a male, and more than likely its his hemipene. Im pretty sure your supposed to put him on some moistened papertowels with sugar water...you may want to check into that some more though...I dont have first hand experience with that happening.

the leo should be taken to the vet immediately, prolapse can be fatal. If a vet can not be reached immediately, the prolapsed tissue should be kept moist, by bathing it with a cool water solution containing sugar (if the prolapsed tissue dries out, it may have to be removed by a qualified vet). The sugar in the solution may help to draw out any fluid in the prolapsed tissue, thereby reducing the swelling making it easier for the tissue to be drawn back in naturally or re-inserted (this re-insertion should only be carried out by a vet).

do any of you know what would have caused this prolapse, i do not keep him/her on sand, i feed her/him mealworms mostly, and small crickets sometimes and occasionally if i run out of mealworms a large cricket, she is still eating fine, i feed the exact same to her/his sister and the sister is doing great, so i have no idea what could have caused the prolapse.

As far as I understand it from reading other threads, it is just something that can happen to males. I don't think it is anything you did wrong, it's just s guy thing.
