I am glad to see that you guys ended up finding some. They are amazing creatures. Good luck keeping up with the Demand of Snails for those guys. I know that it has been hard for us. :D

Thanks :) They are so cute! We found a nearby source for canned escargot snails...and they're HUGE cans...so that shouldn't be too big of a problem :)

Nice! Thats very cool. Ours would never take to the canned ones. We have to keep a supply of live ones on hand. They ended up breeding in the container we had them in too.. So now we have baby snails. Haha.

It's awesome to see how they shell the snail. I've been looking in to the things they eat in the wild and am trying to make a more balanced diet. Didn't like them eating cat food exclusively either.

Have you tried somewhat "rotting"/soft fruit?

Also, watch for aggression. My two didn't like each other at a certian point.

The tongue is blue actually :p ...but they turn pink with age...they'll have pink tongues as adults.

We're going for a more balanced diet as well...after looking up the nutritional information for snails there is NO way cat food fulfills their requirements properly... We haven't tried any rotting/soft fruit, but we did get some organic fruit babyfood (which is fruit, water, and vitamin C) that we are going to try to give them with their snails. We also got some soft aquatic turtle food that looks to have pretty good nutritional traits for them...so we'll see how it goes.....hopefully well...heh

Ours started eating Crested Gecko Diet. Some of them were being kept with some crested geckos and we just saw them going after the food one day. They aren't as crazy about that in comparison to the snails but they do go to the dish and eat it up.

They get about.. 14-18" long maybe a little longer. About 2/3 of that legth is their tail which is very prehensile.

This species has been kept with all types of Rhacodactylus by a lot of different people for years. We first heard about it in the book "Rhacodactylus: Complete Guide to their Selection and Care by de Vosjoli, Fast & Repashy".

One main key with keeping multiple species vivaria is having a huge cage. When they were young we were keeping them in a 3' tall x 1' wide x 2' deep cage at the time and they used every single piece of wood and plant in that cage. They are now in a 2' x 2' x 2' cage and enjoying it.

The only bad thing that I have heard is when keeping a Breeding Pair of Pink Tongues in with Leachianus. The neonate Pink Tongues are very small and will be eaten by the Leachies. :)

edit: spelling :p

Awesome!!
They are fantastic lizards and your pics are great!!

Not to be rude-but have they gone through the roof in price recently?
I saw some listed for $200 to $300 per and I seem to remember them being a whole like cheaper than that
Maybe I am thinking of another type of skink??
