Plastic Tub Heating

i have a friend who owns a pet store and started breeding leos. He is giving me a hatchling to take care of, because he is a little over whelmed. Since i dont have a rack and have a need to use heating tape or rope, is it safe to use a UTH? im trying not to move it into a 10 gallon yet since it is just a hatchling. any ideas? on is it best on the side or bottom? It will be one of the small Zoo Med UTH.

edit: Nvm just bought a 10 gallon it was a little bigger than he stated. Its ok
