My male gecko not eating.. I usually give him giant meal worms about once a night or crickets when we have them from the store. I didn't notice that his worms were piling up in his dish now I see there's about 7 worms. He won't eat them, I had recently cleaned his cage about.. six days ago. I don't know what to do he's had an impaction the first time I bought him from pets-mart he has grown so much and he recovered completely without going to the doctors I just prayed and kept giving him home remedy's. he's a miracle and we really don't want him to leave us now. So what I am wondering is why he isn't eating if you have any ideas please post.

Well some answers to questions will help :)

-Is he pooping?
-How are your temps and how are you measuring them?
-How long since he hasn't eaten?
-Is he about to shed?

If temps are right you can try giving him a nice warm soak in water...for about 10-15mins, dehydration can cause them to get backed up. Just make sure his butt is in the water, you can hold him if you want...put the water about to his belly/just below his elbows.

-Is he pooping? as far as I know.
-How are your temps and how are you measuring them? I've always been on top of measuring the tempatures because of his last impaction.
-How long since he hasn't eaten? About 3 days.
-Is he about to shed? Nope he shed not to long ago.

I think she was looking for specific information like what is the temp and what tools do you use to measure your temps. What heating source do you use? A uth or heat lamps? As far as you know he's poo'ing? this one should kinda be a no brainer hon. He either is or isn't. I would think after having an impaction that being on top of his poo schedule would be a major priority if it were me. How old is your leo? As leos age they don't need to eat every day. Once they hit the 7 mos-ish old mark you can usually go to feeding 3x a week and be fine. Also not eating for about 3 days is not a huge deal. A winter slow down with eating is also not unusual.

Well he is pooing, I got him sometime in 2009 so he's about two because he was young when I got him. I have uth, and heat lamp. Heat lamp is for when I go to bed I don't have one for the day time. I don't really know his tempatures... I don't have a thing to check the temps but I know that its around 90 because I have the same stuff I did when I had the temp checker.

Healthy adults don't need to eat daily. In the winter they slow down a bit and eat less often. This is normal behavior. They still need the temps monitored properly tho, with a digital probe thermometer to measure floor heat on the warm end. These are available for around $10 at most pet stores.

Spend the $7 bucks at home depot and get a probe thermometer please. Your equipment is more likely to fail or not perform as it previously had as it ages. I wouldn't feel safe persuming the temperature, I'd rather know for sure what it is, when it is such a vital part of your leo's well being.

Also for Pretty, the op said the impaction was cleared.
What are you talking about? I never said he was impacted. He said he was impacted previously... which had nothing to do with what I said, also had nothing to do with now, he could (which I'm NOT saying he is) be impacted again.

Three days is nothing for an adult. As the others stated get a nice probe to measure the temps accuratly to make sure. ;)

This ^^^ Is what I was talking about hon. You were giving instructions for something that is generally used to help leos either shed or pass impactions so I presumed since he mentioned he had previous issues that were resolved that you might have missed the resolved part, that's all.
