Hello everyone! My best friend was taking a walk yesterday and found an egg lying on the dirt that an animal had dug for and left behind. Seeing that it was still intact, she took it home in the hopes that the little animal inside would be okay. Well it hatched this morning. It was a tiny baby gecko! We aren't sure what kind of gecko it is, and the only picture I have is a very blurry one, but it is getting a 10 gallon tank today, the container in the pic was the only thing my friend had. Like I said, she wasn't even sure it would make it. Along with the 10 gallon, I told her to get very small mealworms, and a few hides. I told her about shedding and moist hides, and I also told her to get a heat pad. She is willing to get all of this. She is already very attached to "Gary". :D Because she didn't have a heater last night, she wrapped him up in towels and gave him a water dish. He was fine, crawling up the walls of the tank and being active at night. Is this all okay? He is only 1.5" long.

OMG he is so cute lol. It looks like a crested gecko to me, you would probably get more luck posting on the crested gecko forum. I'm pretty sure they need more vertical space than ground space, but i dont know much about them!

I too believe it is a House gecko, she says he has huuuuuge eyes, and a smiley face. ;D She's already quite attached and I think Gary will be quite happy as soon as my friend runs to petco, hopefully today, and gets the supplies. It shouldn't be too expensive, right? :) Figure $15 for the tank, $20 for the heater, $5 for food, $10-$15 for decor is she gets some. :) Not too shabby! I just can't believe it hatched for her, no incubator or special warmth or anything! :D I am just praying she can go to petco today, and her parents let her get everything Gary needs. :D Thanks guys!

That looks large for a baby house gecko doesn't it?

It looks like a house gecko (the stripes and everything else) but I agree, it looks large for a hatchling house gecko. My friend has a couple house geckos (kind of inspired me to get a reptile).

But anyway, where do you live? The only eggs I can happen to stumble upon here are birds eggs lol.

It does look large in the pic, but it's hidey hole was very small. He's only 1.5" long, according to a ruler. Can't be more than 2 grams, tops. I'd say closer to 1.5 grams as well. But he's soooooo cute! My friend lives in the southeastern U.S. ReptileNinja101, I will google that. :D She was not able to get to petco today, but tomorrow she is going to. She put him on a heat pad set on low, so he should be warm enough tonight. He ate one small mealworm already. :D

Hehehe, me either! :D I trust that little wooden thing with all those tiny numbers and lines on it. ;) My friend also got a 3 gallon critter keeper, so until he gets bigger over the weeks, that will have to be his home. But he is active and cute, and now has a heating pad. :)
