So my amazing boyfriend decided to suprise me tonight and got me a baby leopard gecko because he knows I have been wanting one for a while. He/she is a beautiful normal or high yellow who is very active and has quite a personality. The problem is I wasn't expecting to get this gecko, so I have to scramble to get a habitat set up for em. I have him temporarily in an empty spare 1 gal fish tank for the night, with a paper towel, a few mealies, water and a dixie cup cut in half and laid on its side for a hide. I wont be able to get a heat lamp and the rest of the supplies untill I get done work tomorrow (around 4p.m) So I was wondering if there is anything I can do for this little guy in the meantime. Any sort of temporary heat source I could use? This is my first gecko and i really want all the best for him. :( Any helpful advice would be awesome. He's in my room, which stays pretty warm at the top of the house, esp. if i keep the door shut, but I know its still pretty cool for these guys. PLEASE PLEASE help me out, will he be ok for a day untill i can get everything set up for him?? Thanks!

Agreed with Tony! He'll be more than fine without heat, esp. if it's only a day. Its just that if you never give it heat, it won't be good, because he won't be able to properly digest his food, as geckos require belly heat to digest their food.

In fact, just to give you a little reassurance, alot of breeders "cool" their geckos when the breeding season starts, for a period of a month or more, to accurately control when their females will ovulate and begin to breed, and when they will get eggs... So for a day or 2, he'll be fine, lol.

You got him all set up now and ready to go?
