Plugging 2 racks into herpstat

I have a 10 tub rack using 3" flexwatt. I'm getting another rack and want to plug into same herpstat 1 since I am no where near using the wattage limit. So have tried using a surge protector plugged into the herpstat and added a 2' extra piece of flexwatt I had laying around. Neither flexwatt heated.
Noticed the light on surge protector didn't come on when plugged into herpstat. Then tried a cheap brown extension, the flexwatt on the rack worked but not the other piece.
What am I doing wrong?
Thanks

You could make it work but, should you make it work? So, you're trying to power 2 racks w/ 1 thermostat. You only have 1 probe, how do you know what temp the other rack is that doesn't have a probe? It could be too cold and the geckos wouldn't be able digest food properly or she'd properly. Or it could be too hot and possibly burn them. Just play it safe and spend the $$$ and get another thermostat.
