Poop dehydrates?

I noticed today that about a day or after my gecko poops, his poop is half the size it was in the beginning? I know, weird observation. Is that normal? Could it be the paper towel does something?

That's normal.

Mine do the same, infact i give it a little time to dry out like that as its easier to pick it up off the reptile carpet

Otherwise if i try when its all wet and "fresh" it smells more and sometimes makes a mess
