Im soooo upset with myself! Today in WI it got to like 80 some degrees, so I did turn my rheostat down this AM in anticipation of the warmer temps in my appartment but I must not have turned it down enough. I got home from running errands and Bonnie's Viv which is up top on the stand was 95 on hot side...but Clyde's tank which has about 1-2in clearence from the floor was 109!!! Clyde was in his moist hide on the cool side but when I went in to remoisten the hide I picked him up and you can see a slight rusty hue to his underside. Is this a burn??? And if he did get a burn is there anything I should do for it? I ran back out to the pet store and bought another rheostat so Bonnie and clyde's will be on seperate rheostats cause obviously his tank needs to go WAAAAY further down on the stat then hers!! Im sooo upset that I didn't think about this!!

Anything I can do at this point if he is burned. I'll be calling the vet on Monday morning!

Sent in a email to a herp vet 10mins from me...hopefully get a call back tomm morning. Holly you sure about the neo? I guess the RN in me has always been told burns and oily creams are a no go...is this different with reptiles?

I definitly think he got a belly burn..he is moving soooo slow and deliberately. and isn't coming out of his moist hide...which is weird for him. This is making me sooooooo sad!!!

I shoulda known better, but this is the first time in warm weather with my cage set up with a 20gal long on the bottom of the stand. You can see I think his got so hot cause its more insulated by the floor. The wood chips are gone I have papertowel now. :( :bigcry: :bigcry:

Well the reason why I said use the neosporin is because another person I know use it for her collard lizard when she had a burn on her foot. And it did help keep the infection away the next day she saw a vet. But if you don't feel comfortable useing it then don't I don't want to make matters worse for you. :(
