Hi, I'm Erin, I have a 2 year old gecko named Darko. Shes my first reptile ever. I've had her for almost a year and a half. Lately Darko has been blinking a lot. I know it sounds silly, but the way she blinks is odd. almost like her eyes are hurting her.
Heres the situation... I have moved recently and so she is living in a new place. This room has no natural light, but its the only room warm enough for her to be in. She has an under tank heating pad but she doesnt have a lamp. I've tried using a lamp in the past, but I could tell she didn't like it at all.
The room is a game room, so most of the time the light is pretty low for playing games and watching movies. Sometimes it's dark in there almost all day. I'm afraid that's not very good for her, even though she loves the dark.
Anyway, when the lights are on she keeps her eyes closed or blinks them a lot. I thought it was just because she was sleepy. I wonder if the low light is going to damage her eyesight.
I got worried because today I took her out and she was being really lazy. Usually when I get her out she climbs all over the place.
Theres another thing that could be affecting all this - I only feed her meal worms. Is that bad? She doesn't seem to like crickets at all. She doesnt eat them and she hides in her container unless i take them out. usually she will strech out on the rocks in her tank but not if there are crickets in there with her. I've left some in there for days, and still she doesnt eat them.
She was doing fine while we were living in our old place, but just recently she seems really lazy and the eye thing has me worried.
I hope im not a bad "Mom" lol. Any advice you have would be greatly appricated thanks in advance!
