Possible impaction :(

So I am starting to get worried, I think Echo may have gotten impacted. She hasn't pooped in 2 days. We just switched her substrate to slate tile and before that we were using carpet. We do have sand underneath the tile but I do not believe she could have gotten to it. The only thing I can think of is I also switched her humid hide substrate to eco earth and I am afraid that is the culprit. I switched it back to paper towels and if she does not poop by tomorrow I am feel I am going to take her in to see the vet.

Yeah I have no idea why she would either, I figured that it would be safe.. I am not entirely ruling that as the problem but for now I switched back to paper towels.

As for her diet, I keep about a dozen mealies in a dish for her and I feed her 4-6 crickets every night. The past few nights I have only been giving her 2 or 3 crickets. She is still eating, I watched her eat last night and I tossed in a cricket today to make sure she's still eating and she ate that.. It's not quite feeding time yet but I will give her a couple more crickets later on and I just put fresh mealies in for her.

I don't think you need to be concerned if it's only been two days and she's still eating, but I'll let someone else with more experience tell you for sure. :)

Yeah I think she may just be stressed with all the moving around going on inside her home the last few days, but I'm just afraid that if she really is impacted that if I don't get her in tomorrow I wont be able to get her in till after the holidays...

I may just be worrying too much but shes my baby lol

Just a little update since I don't know behaviors of leos when they are impacted.. I took out her humid hide, which I like to do sometimes in the evening around feeding time to allow her to move around and be a little active and she is climbing around and seeming to enjoy her self, still hasn't pooped but she is active.

Also, she did eat, I put 3 crickets in and she ate too, was a little slow so I had to push them in her direction and I put 2 mealies down in front of her and she ate those also, still one cricket running around for her to hunt if she hasnt eaten it yet.

When I switched my girl's tank almost 2 weeks ago to slate she held out on pooping 2-3 days, I think maybe the change in texture and then messing with their home is stressful for them I am sure. Now my other 2 took the slate move like nothing happened and one of them even switched tanks completely, each leo is so different. I wouldn't get worried unless it has been like a week or she stops eating, then a trip to the vet may be in order. I have not heard personally of a leo getting impacted on eco earth but that just me.

Edit- Also you have been having trouble with temps, right? That could also be the reason.

Yeah, I mean my temps are good, it is just that the thermostat is off, so to reach the desired temps I have to have the thermostat set at some ridiculous number lol

Oh ok, well I would just wait and see then

Yeah right now I am just going to wait and see how it goes, she is looking good and very lively, eating and everything...

I am going to invest in the herbstat once I get paid again and I am going to try out the exo terra heat mats aswell.

Just a little update... She finally pooped lol. So I am guessing it was just the stress caused by moving around her stuff and switching to slate. Her temps have been a little inconsistent also while I find the right setting on the thermostat to keep the surface temps in the low 90s.

My gecko has gotten a mouthful of eco-earth before.. It didn't really hurt her. She poops it right out. If you ever worry that your gecko MIGHT be impacted though, just give her a warm soak with the water up to her elbows and gently rub her tummy downwards from head to vent. Then give her a couple of drops of Olive Oil on the nose. You should see poop in a day or two. :)
