The instructions state that the animal should be at least 10-12 inches from the surface of the bulb for their safety. My bulb is 12 inches and I use an additional basking light thats elevated and angled to boost the basking temp to 103F. The recommendations are there for the animals safety.

What is the temp reaching in the basking area? If I were you I would purchase one of the lamp stands to hang the light over her basking area at an appropriate height.

the top spot reaches to 109 degrees and she climbs there if she likes the temp that high and she stays in the mid when she feels less heat that day.....I have the digital temp gauge now I got from the pet store that has a probe at the end thanks . I use to have just the rocks but she still gets cold so I bought the basking branch so she has a choice. there's a 3-4" space from the light as you can see but I know it says 12" but if I I try to do that her temp is low and I already have the 100MVB light its already pretty hot bulb I was told not to buy more than that it will cook my beardie? thanks

If I ever have another cage built the one thing I would do different is go with 24" height. I wanted to use one of those bulbs too but it got too hot & it was way to close to her. I don't have a screen top so the bulb was inside her cage. She didn't have much space between her & the bulb (even without climbing things). I was really wishing I had more height. After all, we can always add more climbing things so they get closer to the heat & UVB rays but when you start out with not much space between the bulb & the floor it makes it hard at times. I am just using a 60W or a 75W house bulb now. I do have a Reptisun 10.0 light in there too.

my viv has good height on it that's why I was able to get her a branch that could be up there and well she has 4 branches that she can bask on and what do you know...LOL...she would pick the highest one thats 3" from the screen top of my viv and I always check if it's hot so far she likes it up there since there's a screen I'm not worried about her getting burned so I hope this is ok ?

Lene, Your set up sounds perfect. It sounds like she is happy. They do like to climb high. I am sure if she got too hot she would move down more too.

OH yes she looks happy as a clam but still not eating I only had her for a week so hopefully she's adjusting well and soon I still worry about her. I was thinking that when I bought her the basking branch cause I use to have the rocks well she doesn't get enough heat so when I got the branch she always climb up or just stay in the middle and bask like there's no tomorrow:D:main_yes: so I hope this is ok....

ps. she poops good now no more jelly now it firm and good looking (ewe:p) she ate probably the 2nd day 4 crix and I superworm on friday and drinking by me misting her and I showed her the water bowl she drink some on the bowl too. Tell me if I'm doing anything wrong? I heard they do brumation too? She sleeps alot too TY
