Price Drop

This isnt really about the care of the breeding, but of when to drop the price on a gecko. Mack tremper albinos are relatively scarce right now, so theyre selling for about 500. Then out of nowhere, som1 sells one on kingsnake for 300..... When is the time to drop it? Wouldnt yo uexpect it to be dropped by 25 as opposed to 200 if you cant sell it? I noticed the same pattern with the normal macks, and a little bit with the supers.

I saw this too and was pretty suprised. Wait until next year if you think that is bad. With more people buying/producing SS Albinos; next year regular Mack Snow Albinos will be mass produced. Prices will probably be like regular Macks are going for now by mid 2007.

Oh don't worry they'll drop too... Females will be higher than males next year though. SS Bells will hold their price the longest due to so few people doing Mack Snow Bell projects. Not to mention they have the best eyes...

Shelly @ LL which just posted her's for $350 ifromw hat I have seen in the past is probably the most competitive well known breeder. Sure others have prices liek her but some you might not know of and alittle scared to purchase from. She seems to have some stunners every year for WOW prices, I thought this when I saw that TSSA, her Patty Mack as well. I've seen her have some screaming SHTCTB for $50 when other easily sell them for 300 plus.

Unfortunately, after a few people start working with a ceratin morph or genetic trait, it is only a short time before the price drops tremendously. If you breed these same morphs you are forced to lower your prices if you want to sell any. If you are just starting with a morph and are a buyer, it is great to watch the price drop, unless, of course, the price drops by 100 dollars the day after you finally buy one..... that happened to me and it made me ill. I just accept that it is the way it works and if I feel the need to buy a particular morph while they are still "hot" , then so be it. However, a good point was made about how some breeders are almost always more competitively priced than others while the quality of the animals is comparable. I certainly feel there are enough good breeders out there that are producing great animals that I can be selective and still be conscientious about how much I am spending.

Thats the thing they werent really selling at 500 each, I mean just having them marked at that price means nothing if nobody buys them. It does seem a little drastic to drop the price by $150-200 all at once, but I also dont see anyone jumping on them now for $300.

It is all supply and demand. Last year I believe I sold a het Albino Mack for twice the amount, this year I cant sell an Albino Mack "het" for Reverse Stripe for the same. Go figure.

Here is one BTW
