I have a male that I didn't breed last year. This year when I put a female with him he attacks her. I am not talking about breeding behaviour. He latches on and holds on till you take him off. He drew blood today. I had to grab him and squeeze his neck to get him to let go, I thought he going to latch on to me (lol). He has me worried, he was a good breeder but seems more interested in beating them up now.

I have tried a female in with him and vice versa but the result is the same. I am afraid he will kill the female if I let him. He may be entering retirement now.

Some are a bit more violent than others. We had one that lunged at a female and so we seperated them. We put them back together later and he was much "gentle-er" and now she's gravid. Does the female try to attack him back or does she sit there? Bites are pretty common so I wouldn't worry too much about that. Try to leave them alone for a bit longer...it may just be his way of doing things. Be sure to watch them closely though.
