As some of you know i was given an Eclipse Enigma from a chain pet store because its slight circleing was making customers ask questions. I have had him for about a month and i still have seem no signs of him eatting.

I have managed to hand feed him about 2 mealworms but he absolutly hates it, i have also given him a mix of repticaid and mealworm inerds, but nothing seems to work. He has a dish of mealworms in his tank and i have also tried crickets and supers with no luck. I know many members have a lot more experience with this morph so i was wondering if anyone has a suggestion.

thanks

Maybe try roaches. My enigmas mostly eat roaches. They need things a bit larger and can't seem to catch/see things that are small like mealworms.

My E. girl has the syndrome bad. It's a risk we take when purchasing Enigmas. Lena takes superworms from tongs, sometimes easily and other times it takes a few minutes of acrobats.

Im willing to put the time into tong feeding or anything that would work but he dosent have any interest in food. If i hold it right infront of him he just turns away. Even if something runs by he just ignores it. There isnt anywhere close where i can get roaches but i will ask around to see if any of the local reptile people are breeding any.

thanks

If you can be impossibly patient in a saint-like way, you could try mealworms by hand.

1) Get calm gecko resting on palm and thumb of your non-dominant hand. Make sure gecko is relaxed, not struggling.

2) Grab head of mealworm in your good hand, and gently use pokey worm tail-bits to put very(!) light(!!!) pressure on the side of the gecko's mouth. This will lead to one of two reflexes:
a)*SNAP SNAP SNAP* (which can be startling, don't let go of the gecko!)
b) Big Scary Gecko Jaws of Doom face (which is hilarious on a 5g hatchling)

3)Struggling may ensue at any point in this process. Recalm gecko and start over; don't fight or you may end up with a tail in your hand.

4) You can hold crickets by their hinds legs to try, too.

5) If all else fails try the "soup" recipe; it's a stickynote under 'Health & Medications'.

He just shed last night and ate most of it. I guess i will continue the slurry and keep trying, i have tried the mealworm thing suggested and he gets very angry with me. He is such an awesome gecko and so friendly i would hate to lose him.

thanks
