Are these things safe to use now? Anyone to buy from or not to buy from? They were experiencing some problems for awhile, just curious what is goin on now. Anyone raise them from eggs?

Thanks!

Missed this before...

Last time I bought eggs I used a different source and got a very low hatch rate - don't know if it was the source or what. Mulberry Farms didn't have much for sale during that time - no eggs. I think this low hatch rate thing was separate from the nasty disease. Those that did hatch had no disease.

This time (ordered a couple weeks before Christmas) I went back to Mulberry farms. I ordered both small/med silkworms and eggs. I'm afraid I got busy and haven't set up the eggs yet - I'm going to go do that! The silkworms did fine. I ordered 1000 and had no disease at all. The remaining ones are starting to spin coccoons now. They did very well - even with my less than attentive holiday care.

A while back there was some kind of illness killing the silkworms. I don't know much more about it. There was a thread over on Fauna about it.

as far as i can tell they're doing great, i think i've seen more at the past 3 shows i went to, than ive seen in 6 years. my leos love silkies. so do my day geckos. im lucky enough to have 2, 40ft tall mullberry trees in my back yard, so i get to breed them and not worry about any of those kinds of problems
