So after a lot of interest in the picture of my Haloween mask Leo I put up on my Facebook Page, I'd like to see who else has them and where their lines came from? Thought it'd be cool to see what variates in the 'pure' line of them.
The Halloween Mask was a project Albey started several years ago, and then Paul Allen (Bright Albino) took over. When Paul closed his gecko business, several other breeders started working with them including Eric Bristow (Oregon Gecko), Brittney Gougeon (PacHerp), Chris Hansbrow (Gecko Daddy), and Chris West (Wild West Reptiles) and a few others.
Thanks for the quick insight, I love Brittney's and Chris H's work with them if im being honest - I didnt know of Oregon Geckos and Wild West Reptiles (maybe as im based in the UK).. This little'un came from Brittneys stock, I find it interesting how their can be so much varient in a gecko labeled as 'Pure' .. I'd also like to find out what people think of crossing them to bandits - to me, I'm not so keen on the idea.. when do you stop labeling them as halloween mask crosses. It's the same when people cross subs etc and still label as 100% Fascio for an example, or a fascio cross but dont state the % of pure blood etc.
Never the less the Halloween mask line is a special one indeed and im super excited to see what the future hols for it
We have a Pure HM male (on the left) and a HM het Bell female (on the right) that we bought from PacHerp.
Since most of the original breeders stopped working with this line, there are very few "Pure" HM available on the market. So to add new blood in this project we decided to cross our Pure HM male to some of our bandit females from Designer Geckos. Below are some pictures of the offsprings :
I don't see anything bad in mixing those two lines, it's not like mixing different strains of albinos or subspecies. And since the line is on the break of "extinction" (at least the original "Pure" line), we saw it as a way to keep the project going on. And with the results we had with the offsprings, we're quite happy and can't wait for this breeding season.
