Purpose of newspaper on top of meal worm bedding?

What is the point in covering the top two thirds of your meal worm bedding with newspaper? Thanks!!!

It says they put newspaper on top of their mealworm bedding. Just wondering if it is something everyone does (and the purpose of doing it) or if I even have to do it to start a meal worm breeding project.

I read somewhere to keep the newspaper a little damp, its just to provide a bit of moisture to them without directly soaking the substrate.

its to keep alittle humidity for the mealworms. some people use paper towels some just throw in a few carrots, its really up to you.

So as long as I provide carrots, potatoes or apples for them I don't need the newspaper. Sounds good to me!!! Thanks for the help

i dont use paper towels or newspaper and my meals are doing fine. i just change out the carrots and patatos every 3 or 4 days.
