well i was thinking that maybe i can put my two females together because they are about the same size. well i cleaned the tank out really good, and changed the furniture around. i have one albino and one normal. well things didnt work out good, the normal started chasing the albino. everytime the albino would find a hide spot the normal would go and nip her.
so is the normal never going to be able to be with another gecko? she didnt cause any permenant damage but i separated them again.
should i wait a week or so and try again? or just give up?
does this happen alot? the tank is big, its and had numerous hide spots.

Size??Seperate??

Being near the same size might make it appear that they can be combined.. ...In this case as you found out, one seems to want to dominate. And it will probably be in eating the food too. But why chance a bad bite or a dropped tail now that you observed the roughness. They will do just fine alone. If you feel one needs a companion, why don't you be it?......Take care. / HJ

I just was hoping they would get along because that enclosure is bigger then a 10gal. i separated them before they can do any damage. i was just wondering how some people on here can put the females together and have no problem?.

Together like humans

You can put some together part of the time. I have my first two female in a 55 gal tank. They get along just fine. But just like people......some can, some can't live together. You can always try again, but make sure you have time to stay with them to observe the bullying doesn't happen again. I have always separated them after the first time I see it. But others have their own ways. Take care. / HJ

I can't. My females can't get along with each other too. There was a time I wanted to keep the females in a larger tank, but one of them just keep going after the other girls and almost took a big bite at a tail. I was lucky that I was watching when this happened and stopped her just in time. Now all my geckos live alone in seperate tanks.

And I agree that is the safe way to keep from having gecko problems and trips to the vet. They don't always bully while you are observing them. My two in the 55 are lifers....been together since 2 gram babies.

I have 1.3 together for breeding. They have been together for several months now, but a few weeks ago I heard some fighting going on in the middle of the night. When I checked to see what was going on, one of the females was picking on another female. I put them on opposite sides of the tank and continued to watch. They have not fought again since. So I don't know what the fighting is about. I think the one female was just being territorial. Is that common?

I know that Males can be territorial that is one reason you can't house 2 males together. I bought 4 leopard geckos from someone. They told me that one of the females does not get along with any other females. I have her with a Male and have not heard or seen anything. When I get my Reptile Room, I am going to put them in a nice tank and watch and see what happens. The person I got the leopards from has lied about other things so makes me not believe them.
