Q re: Calc Dusting Crickets

Heya,

I dust my crickets by placing a few into a small jar, with calcium dust already in there, and shake 'em up so they are covered white. Problem is the dust easily falls off them and into the tank as they hop/run around. I'm sure enough of it sticks for my gecko to get a decent intake of calcium, but my gripe is that my tank has sprinkles of white dust everywhere after only a week.

Any suggestions on how to prevent this from happening?

Try Repashy Calcium ICB, it's an all in one, dust every day and sticks to bugs for at least 24 hours. I've just started using it and have seen a super escape and still be covered two days later when it made a brief appearance before becoming gecko lunch

I use RepCal, it works pretty good but I've heard a lot of good things about the Repashy Calcium ICB too so when the RepCal runs out I think I will get some of that. But in the meantime, to deal with the problem you have now, I would maybe mist the crickets with water before dusting so it sticks better without falling off as they move. :main_yes:

I'll give it a shot. Is it just the generic Calcium ICB they have or do they have a specific one for leopard geckos? I read something about that on here a while back, I think..

Also, what's a reliable, inexpensive place to order the Repashy Calcium ICB from that ships to Canada? Incase the stores around me don't have any.

That's just who I dealt with, haha. They do in fact ship to Canada.

I use repti-carpet and every other week to clean up spilled calcium, I just pull out the carpet and use the vacuum's hose extension on it. Quick and effective.
