Question about a female gecko?

I'm about to buy another male to add to my collection. This guy wants to get out of geckos and wants to give me this female for free. She looks big and healthy but he told me that every once and a while she gets "gunk" in her eye. Can anyone tell me what this is? Is it contagious to other geckos?

She may have a cronic shed problem around the eyes, leading to infection in the eye.

IS there any other type of eye problems that could be contagious to other geckos?
