Question about Breeding and Weight

So I have concluded that my first project for breeding is going to involve Snows. I was going to cross Mack Snow X Giant Mack snow. Now my question is they both have distinct stripes down their back, but are not labeled as bold stripes or stripes. I was wondering if the stripe going down the back would be a polygenic trait and could be passed down to offspring? Also what is the breeding weight for an adult male giant leopard gecko?

Stripes are polygenic, and to get a greater chance of seeing the stripes in the offspring, you would linebreed male & females with stripes that you are looking to enhance. If just one gecko has the stripes, then it's a chance you'll get stripes in the offspring, no guarantees.

As for breeding weight, some mistaken giant leopard geckos can be bred earlier just because they weigh more earlier on. A leopard gecko won't breed successfully until they are sexually mature, this is true for both male & females. For males generally it's as early as 6 months old, but it's generally between 6-10 months of age when they become sexually mature. For females, you have to wait until they ovulate. Their weight & health are important, but if a female isn't ovulating, then there's no point in attempting copulation.

I always recommend 55-60g+ weight for breeding leopard geckos.
