Question about cutting flexwatt

Ok, I've decided to switch from undertank heat mats to flexwatt heat tape; because I'm getting temperature discrepancies between different heat mats that are connected to the same thermostat. So, my question is, if I need 65" of heat tape, can I cut exactly 65"? Or do I need to follow the panel size? The 11" heat tape is 12.5" per panel, therefore, if I need to cut according to panel size, I'll end up with 75" (6x12.5") of heat tape. What am I going to do with the extra 10 inches?

Bonnie, I believe with the 11" panels you will need to cut them at the panel size. With the 4" strips, you can cut it to your specific length. On the panels, there is not a continuing electrical grid between them.

Can you go short by 2.5" using only 5 panels and still have enough to heat the rack?

Marcia do you use 4"? Where did you find it? I can't find it anywhere.

I just placed an order. Oh boy, that crimping tool is so expensive!
