Question about digging

Im guessing your gecko is housed alone? Is it a male or female? I really would not be worried because digging is natural. I do have a few geckos that just love the security of going under their paper towel

Ozy has Eco-Earth in her humid hide and she digs in that all the time. She gets one corner dug all the way down to the plastic and lays in that spot. Then I feel bad because when I mist it I have to scrape all the dry stuff off the bottom and mix it up while I'm misting to make sure it's nice and moist. Then she just digs it back out again. LOL! Although it IS right over her heat mat, so she probably just wants it warmer since she sleeps in her humid hide everyday

2 of my leos just love digging in their humid hides. I don't usually see them do it, I can just tell from the huge mess I'm left to clean up the next morning :main_angry: :main_rolleyes:

He's housed alone. On the breeders website it said he was temp sexed for female but was looking male. I have very limited experience with sexing reptiles but as far as I can tell it's male. Though he is only a little over 3 months (hatched June 21).

My one female digs and rearranges the cage just before she lays her eggs, is she gravid?

As far as I know it's male. I've read that it's hard to sex younger geckos because males and females look the same. If it is female wouldn't it be too young to ovulate (3 months)? I've only read the safe age/weight to start breeding a female.

Like others have said, digging is a natural behaviour (which is why I'm not as big of a fan of slate as a substrate). No need to worry. :) And I think ovulation usually begins about a year. 3 months is still probably too young to determine sex.
