Question About Feeding....

Ok so here's my story. My one gecko, Mushu, has lost a lot of front teeth. I am not sure how this happened, but I have been bitten and I can say there are teeth missing. I have been feeding waxworms because that seems to be all he'll take. I was afraid to feed mealies or crickets due to their hard exoskeleton and Mushu's inability to crunch them. I just don't want something to chew through his stomach. Any suggestions of what I should do? Thanks for taking the time to read this!:)

stop feeding waxworms and feed your gecko something nutritious! They have the highest fat content after mealworms in the 3 prey sources you list. They provide little protein, and from a nutrional analysis they contain only 0.1% calcium and 0.9% phosphorus. In otherwords, you're feeding your gecko nothing but a candy bar.

From an exoskeleton standpoint, crickets are actually fairly soft and easily digestable. Mealies have been known for years to be higher in chitin.

You've got a greater chance of the alien from the diner scene in Aliens chewing its way through your gecko before a mealworm does.

Mealworms and supers shed and look white at first. These are soft in texture like a waxworm. You would probably need at least 100 to always find some shedding. As Gregg said above, get it off the addictive waxworms, they are a very poor staple diet.
