I'm considering getting a crested gecko so I've been doing some research. I've read that you pretty much just feed the crested gecko diet and occasional crickets, is this the best way to feed them? Can they have mealworms? I've got a colony of mealworms so I've got smaller ones than what the pet store usually has.

What fruits do they eat? I want to give it fresh fruit sometimes as a treat because it seems boring for them to eat the same thing all the time haha. There's a few animals I'm interested in so I'm trying to get as much info as possible on each of them so I can decide what I want.

My cresties have never gone for fruit, although I've only tried banana. Crested gecko diet comes in different flavors if you want to try that, but honestly they don't seem to mind eating the same thing all the time. They do seem to enjoy it when I open a fresh jar, but that's about it. And they may not eat mealworms because they don't move around as much, so they're not as "interesting". Mine won't eat worms, and they don't even want crickets anymore after they've been bitten so many times. Which is fine by me; I hate crickets.

Ok thanks :) how often are you able to hold them?

When you first get one, let it adjust for about a week without holding it so you don't stress him too much. Then about once a day for about 20min at a time until they get used to being handled. After that, whatever they'll tolerate is probably fine. I've seen some passed around all day at reptile shows that don't get stressed at all; it just depend on the individual's personality and what they're used to. If they get jumpy or start breathing really fast, put them back in their cage.

Oh cool! I like being able to handle my animals. They seem more fragile than my leos so I wasn't sure if they could be handled as much. Thanks for the info!
