Question About Genetics?

Probably really simple for you experts out there. If you have something with multiple traits in it, for instance a Diablo Blanco, would a punnet square use all of those recessive traits it's comprised of or just have something stand for Diablo Blanco that is recessive?

Genetics confuse me so much. T~T

You can do it either way but which way you choose depends on what question you want answered. If you put them all together using AAbbCc X AaBbCC etc you answer the question: What is the chance of getting offspring with a certain combination of traits (such as albino, eclipse, and Mack Snow). If you did each trait alone using Aa x AA; bb x Bb etc. you would answer the question: What is the chance of getting a gecko with one specific trait? (such as albino, or eclipse, or Mack Snow).

Thank you so much. :) I'm busting my tail trying to understand genetics. x3 I want to a breeder as a hobby one day and want to figure out how this all works for now. I'm waiting to get a pair until I study....well everything. lol.

Probably a good idea - I would start out by trying to understand what all the different behaviors of traits mean - words like Co-dominant, recessive and Dominant. That tells you how the gene will behave. You need this knowledge to understand the output of a punnet square calculation :)
