hey, i finally am almost able to pick up one of my leos. I get my hand under him, but he runs off of it. Should i keep on trying and chase him around until i get ahold of him>? if not , what else should i do to make her stop running away from my hand??

I have a leo like that, had her since March and she hasn't til this day liked me holding or touching her period. I wouldn't try ALOT you could stress the leo out, I done that to mine and she didn't come out of her hide for 3 days.

But now I just lay my hand in the tank and let her sniff my hand and I slowly grab her, sometimes she just let's me scoop her up.

I'd just keep trying to handle her; make sure you don't pull her tail, and she should be alright! (Assumed she was a girl...) It becomes really obvious when the leo is becoming too stressed! Just pay attention to her* actions (breathing, etc) and be weary of her* mouth! Good Luck!

I would just leave my hand in their tank for a few minutes each day, when the gecko becomes curious and feel safe to check it out, it'll come close to your hand, and eventually walk up your hand.

My one year old will crawl around on my hand and doesn't mind a few minutes on my shoulder but that's about it for now. I also make sure he's got a path back to his tank while he's on me. He's very mellow in the tank and doesn't mind my hand in there and will usually just crawl up but I let him decide what he wants. I don't think it helps to push the issue. However, it took a lot of time and patience for him to get to this stage. Don't make the poor dear scared of your hand.

I second the slow advice from everyone else. Also remember to really wash your hands/arms wherever the leo touches on you real good. I don't even let my 17m old touch them-maybe I'm a bit fanatic about cleaning the cages and my hands though around reptiles. But then I think that's just good husbandry regarding any animal really, especially reptiles.
