question about meal worm care

we are feeding one leo and just recently started feeding her mealies. man am i glad to not have to deal with crickets on a regular basis as she loves the mealies. we have been getting our mealies from the local pet store. they are a bit small but the next size seems too big. when we buy them, they are refridgerated and it seems many of them are dead before we get to feed. wondering if i should keep out in a tank with bran/oat. i am curious if this would allow them to get a bit bigger. what should i feed them? any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

I keep my mealies in a plastic storage tub, on oats that I've blended and generally feed them carrots for moisture. I keep the beetles in a similar set up. I started out with pet store mealies and they seemed average sized to me, so do the mealworms I bred from them. I don't know if a bigger tank would allow them to grow bigger though, kind of doubt it.

I have had a few sets of mealworms. They really don't get very large. I just keep them in a few rubbermaid containers. If you want a larger worm you may want to look into getting superworms. They live and bred almost the same .
