Im considering getting one next year. I notice some keep them on sand and some on aspen.Im thinking aspen.Do you remove the snake to feed?
I usually use newspaper so putting a wet defrosted mouse on aspen or sand just doesnt sound like a good idea.

Do they eat mice or rats as adults?

I may or may not get one, its either that or another antaresia.

Well the Best substrates to use are Aspen or Crushed Walnut Shells. cause if they ingest them it won't cause any impactions! I currently have 20 in my group right now and they are very easy to keep. They just need a warmer hot spot compared to most snakes. With the temps being around 100 on the hot side between 70 - 80 on the cool side.

I do feed outside the tub with some of them but its not necessary to do so unless you house more then one in one tank or tub! Also like most boas the are great feeder and most will take frozen thawed with no problems!!
